and we will have your titles available for you to check out on your
Somerville Public Library card.* We will also post the list of

This site has book and movie reviews as well as providing detailed
information on the plot, characters, setting, and storyline of the book.
Each review has a list of similar books you may enjoy.
Booklist
This online version of the American Library Association's Booklist
magazine reviews nearly 4,000 adult and 2,500 young adult books each
year. In addition, articles, book lists, author interviews, editorials
and essays make this a valuable web site for bibliophiles.
BookPage Online
This monthly online version of the publication BookPage is devoted to
serving readers, libraries, booksellers, and publishers. It features up
to 100 new book reviews per month as well as author interviews and
articles.
BookSpot
BookSpot simplifies the search for the best book-related content on the
Web. Featured sites are hand-selected by BookSpot editors and organized
into intuitive categories such as bestseller lists, genres, book
reviews, electronic texts, book news, and more.
Bookweb
The American Booksellers Association represents independent bookstores
nationwide. The ABA web site has Book Sense Picks, which are monthly
reading recommendations from independent bookstores. It also provides
lists of books to be reviewed in national newspapers and on radio and
television
Complete Review
Avid readers no longer have to weed through a myriad of web pages only
to find that the review they want requires registration or costs a fee
to read. Reviewsofbooks.com searches the web for book reviews of new
titles and gathers them together in one site.

This site features reviews of new fiction, non-fiction, children's books
and music, as well as interviews with authors.
Nancy Pearl’s Web
Site
Nancy Pearl is
known for her book reviews on National Public Radio. . Now you can go to
her web site and read new reviews each week.
New York Times
The New York Times Books section offers featured reviews from the paper
and from the New York Times Book Review magazine. It also gives you
access to their bestseller lists, columns by their knowledgeable staff,
essays on reading and writing, very active forums and a monthly book
discussion group.
Overbooked
This site is a treasure trove for readers, because it provides access to
a multitude of book-related sites for adults, young adults, and
children. Whether you are looking for author information, reviews,
e-books, reading lists, or more, you will find them here. Of special
note are the Authors, Featured, Hot Picks, On the Fly, and Stars Lists
sections.

Genre Fiction
Chick Lit Books
Chick Lit Books covers the entire spectrum of the Chick Lit genre. There
are tons of book reviews, a section for upcoming books, author
interviews and links to other Chick Lit websites.
Christchurch City Libraries
There is an extensive list of The Best of British Detective Stories, but
the reading suggestions on the Christchurch City Libraries (New Zealand)
website are much broader. There are book reviews, literary magazines and
awards, and suggestions for new music.
Fantastic Fiction
This British site spotlights science fiction, fantasy and horror
authors. It has author bibliographies, science fiction and fantasy award
winners, new releases, and links to author websites.
Mostly Fiction
Mostly Fiction includes reviews of new and old books in various
categories, book excerpts, book lists, author interviews, and lists of
books in series.
Readwest
This website dedicated to westerns offers rated book reviews (5
spurs=outstanding, 3spurs=not bad), author info with links to their
websites, movie info, news from the world of western literature, awards,
and a list of forthcoming titles.
Romance Writers
of America
The Romance Writers of America is a professional association whose goal
is to promote the reading and writing of the romance novel. The RWA
offers the reader suggestions and links to the best-selling authors and
award-winning novels. Many of the members have direct links to their
homepages.
Stop, You’re Killing Me!
The web site offers chronological book lists of authors who write
“mystery, suspense, and intrigue” books and are published in the United
States. It also lists non-series books. Readers can search by character
or author.
The SF Site
Updated twice a month The SF Site is a great way for Science Fiction and
Fantasy fans to keep up with new releases.

Graphic Novels
Comics Worth Reading
This is a great website to read reviews of comics and graphic novels or
to see previews of new comics. The reviews are divided into sub-genres
of comics like Manga, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. There is also a list
of recommended comics and soon-to-be-released titles.
No
Flying No Tights
This site provides reviews of graphic novels, divided into three broad
sections: the original “No Flying No Tights” for teens, “Sidekicks” for
kids, and “The Lair,” which features graphic novels that appeal to teens
but are more appropriate for adults.

Teens! Are you looking for something good to read? Reading Rants offers
booklists full of great titles under categories such as "Reality Bytes",
"Inquiring Minds Want to Know", "Gods and Monsters", and more.
Teen Ink
Teen Ink is a web site with original content written for teens by teens.
The web site features fiction, non-fiction, reviews of books, movies,
music, television, and video games.
Teenreads
This site highlights the hottest books for teens. It provides author
interviews and reviews of books covering a variety of reading choices, a
wide range of interests and age levels.
Teens
Only
This is the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's web site for Teens Only. In
addition to links to other great web sites discussing a wide range of
topics; this site's forte is its collection of booklists ranging from
poetry to survival books.

Literary Information
Academy of American Poets
This site has a collection of over 500 poet biographies, 1400 poems and
100 audio clips of poetry.
Center for the Book: Library of Congress
The Center for the Book was established in 1977 to use the resources and
prestige of the Library of Congress to promote books, reading,
libraries, and literacy. There are affiliated Centers for the Book in
all 50 states and The District of Columbia. Each state's center offers
book or literacy-related programming and other activities such as
story-telling festivals, author appearances, collections of books
available for use by bookclubs, student essay contests, special events
for seniors, and more.
DNA of Literature
Assembled by the Paris Review this website is an archive of the
journal's famous interviews with world authors. They plan to eventually
have all of their author interviews available free of charge. Currently
available are interviews from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Eclectica Magazine
This quarterly online journal attempts to bring together the best
writing on the web and is a great mix of fiction, nonfiction, and
poetry. Along with new issues, the site also archives nearly fifty back
issues.
Identity Theory
This online journal has insightful, in-depth author interviews. It also
contains original fiction and nonfiction, excerpts from forthcoming
books, and reviews. The review section of the website, called Book Rate,
provides brief, refreshing commentaries.
Literary Encyclopedia
The Literary Encyclopedia is a growing reference web site that offers a
look at the world of literature. The lives and works of many literary
authors and other prominent figures, such as philosophers and musicians,
are profiled. The profiles offer lists of the author’s works, their
contemporaries and links to other web sites of interest.
Literary Locales
The website offers readers an excellent visual aid connecting the
setting of the story with the novel. Sponsored by the English Department
of San Jose State University, Literary Locales includes virtual tours,
maps and pictures from such places as Steinbeck Country, the inspiration
for Charles Perrault’s Sleeping Beauty’s castle to the many knolls
described in Richard Adam’s Watership Down.
Notable Books for Adults
Each year, the Notable Books Council, a division of the American Library
Association, selects 25 “very good, very readable, and at times very
important” fiction, nonfiction and poetry books. This website provides
access to the current year’s choices, including a brief synopsis of each
title, as well as archived lists dating back to 1993.
Postcolonial
Web
It focuses on literature in English written by authors from nations of
the Empire ruled by Queen Victoria with sections on each of the areas
around the globe that made up that empire. It includes essays about the
nation and/or regions history, politics and geography as well as
literature and the other arts.
Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg, the Internet’s oldest and largest collection of free
electronic books, has thousands of classics from the early 20th century
on back. Works from authors like Shakespeare and Poe and old favorites,
such as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and the Sherlock Holmes
mysteries, may be freely downloaded and read.
Red Inkworks:
Encouraging Writers to Write
This site is dedicated to writers of short stories, poetry and
screenplays and features both traditional writers’ links as well as
links to many “off-beat and boldly creative sites.”
Today in
Literature
This site spotlights literary events that occurred on that date in
history. This site also has a wealth of information about authors.
