    LIBRARY CARDS

    Anyone who lives, works, or owns property in Matawan or Aberdeen may apply for a library card at the circulation desk. Proper identification and a signed application are required. Students become eligible for adult cards in seventh grade. Those children who are younger require a parent's signature on their application. The Matawan Aberdeen Public Library participates in a limited reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Old Bridge Public Library. Other non-residents may purchase library cards.

    RETURNING

    • An outdoor book return is located on the Park Street side of the library and may be used at any time. The book return is emptied each morning.
    • Any overdue charges should be paid on the next visit to the library.
    • Rental books, videos, discs and cassettes must be returned to the circulation desk.

    RENEWING LOANS

    • Library materials (except videos) may be renewed in person or by phone as long as they are not on hold for someone else of more than a week overdue.
    • 7 Day materials may renewed once. 14 Day materials may renewed up to 3 times.

    PLACING RESERVES

    • You may call the library anytime to ask that a book be held for you.
    • There is a 15 cent charge per reserve.
    • You also may use a reserve card to place a "request for purchase.

    INTERLIBRARY LOANS

    • Books not owned by the library may often be borrowed from other libraries.
    • Only print materials may be requested from another library.

    OVERDUE MATERIALS

    • The overdue charge for 14 day materials is 5 cents per day. The charge for 7 day materials is 10 cents per day.
    • Videos have an overdue fine of $1.00 per day.
    • Interlibrary loans have an overdue fine of $ .25 per day.
