Computers @ Your Library

MAIN LIBRARY
Public Internet Computers are located in the Reference Area. A Long Branch Public Library Card or ID is required. With a library card, users are permitted 2 hrs. of computer use per day - alloted in 1 hr. increments. Guest card holders are permitted 1 hr. per day. Computers are equipped with Word, Excel, PowerPoint & the internet. Public computers shut down after each hr. Documents cannot be saved. If you need to save work, pleae bring a USB stick or visit the Gates Lab. See ** below for printing details.

Library Catalogs are located on each floor. Use them to find items, place a hold & review your ccount.

Online Resources
: Many business, research, genealogical, & educational databases are accessible with your library card. Many are available from home by visiting our database page

Computers for Kids: Computers, with filtered Internet access & game computers, are available in the Children's Room. Children, up to age 11, can use the computers for 1/2 hour daily.  An additional 1/2 hour is permitted upon approval.

Gates Computer Lab: The Lab is the place to go for educational or research needs. Offers self paced tutorials for many basci level computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet Use, Mouse Skills & Keyboarding. Patrons, ages 12 & up are alloted 2 hrs. per day of use, on a first-come, first-served basis. You may save your work to a floppy or USB stick. The lab hours are as follows:

           New Computer Lab Hours (effective May 10, 2008):
                            Tuesday: 11:00am - 1:30pm
                          Wednesday: 11:00am - 1:30pm
                               Thursday: 5:00pm - 7:30pm
                               Saturday: 12:30pm - 4:30pm
     (Teen Techtime: Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 5:00pm)

** Please note: During regular lab hours, internet use is limited to research or educational purposes. To surf the web, check email or play games, please use the public computer in the Reference Area

Networked Microfilm Reader: A networked microfilm reader is available on the lower level to search and make copies of local newspapers, city directories, local history materials and more


ELBERON BRANCH : Four public computers are available for use by adults and children in 1/2 increments. A library card or ID is required. The Elberon Branch also provides an online catalog and online resources. (see above for details)

**Printing Documents - Black and white printers are available on each floor. Each page printed costs 10 cents. Check with the staff for more details.


         The NJ Library for the Blind and Handicapped services are available without charge to anyone living in New            Jersey who for any physical reason cannot read regular printed books. Please visit our Reference Desk for             more information and an application or visit the NJ Library for the Blind and Handicapped website.
