EDISON CENTENNIAL NEWS
In September 1978 the Thomas Alva Edison Foundation announced a “year-long ‘Centennial of Light’, an international celebration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Thomas Edison’s invention of the incandescent electric light bulb on October 21, 1879.” The objective of this celebration was “to regenerate enthusiasm for invention and innovation… Edison typified this enthusiasm for scientific and technological advancement as a service to mankind’s quality of life.” The issues in the pamphlet file extend to August 1980.
